Back to Godhead, our bi-monthly color magazine, covers all aspects of the philosophy and practice of Krishna consciousness as taught by Srila Prabhupada. Some recurring features include lectures by Srila Prabhupada, tours of Indian holy places, interviews with Hare Krishna devotees, Krishna conscious perspectives on issues of the day, excerpts from Vedic scriptures, and tips on practicing spiritual life in the modern age.


Nagaraja Dasa
Nagaraja Dasa became a Hare Krishna devotee in San Francisco in 1974. He has been on the BTG staff since 1986 and became editor in 1998, taking over from Jayadvaita Swami. Nagaraja selects and edits articles, keeps things on schedule, and does just about everything that needs to be done to get the magazine out on time. He is well known as an expert singer and lecturer. Nagaraja lives in Alachua, Florida.
Prema Manjari Devi Dasi
General Manager
Prema Manjari Dasi overseas the BTG operation. Originally from India, she lives in Alachua with her two daughters and her husband, who spends much of his time in St. Lucia, the Caribbean nation where he has a medical practice and where the family lived before moving to Alachua.
Yamaraja Dasa
Art Director
Yamaraja Dasa, originally from Oregon, joined the Krishna consciousness movement in 1971. He has worked with BTG since 1973, when the magazine was being laid out with an exacto knife and glue. Yamaraja keeps up with current design ideas and does an excellent job designing and laying out the magazine. He doubles as a BTG photographer and as a book designer for the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust.

The History of Back to Godhead Magazine

On February 14, 1944, a group of devotees gathered to celebrate the appearance day of their spiritual master, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura (1874-1937). Srila Bhaktisiddhanta had ordered one of them to spread Krishna consciousness in English. So now, on this auspicious day, that devotee, His Divine Grace A.C.
